Mother’s Day 2012 I received an email into my “junk email” account telling about a little girl who needs a mommy. Sometimes what we think is “junk” is really “treasure.” Although I rarely open emails in this account, for some reason I did that day. The subject line said, “Will you be my mommy?” At the same time, God had been working in Scott and I’s hearts to desire to adopt a child in need of a forever family. We desired an older preschool aged girl. Our daughter, Alli is older elementary so that would be a good fit for us. After reading about this little girl, it seemed to be a fit. Scott said to check into it and the next thing I know our lives are in chaos working to get the MOUNDS of paperwork and appointments completed in an attempt to meet a speedy timeline our agency requested of us. Well, here we are almost a year later. The process has had MANY, MANY challenges and set backs with our adoption agency going out of business and bankrupt as well as a variety of other issues. I’m guessing when we get our girl we’ll still have lots of challenges and set backs so maybe this is our preparation for what lies ahead! The good news is we are now with a new agency who is WONDERFUL. Thus we anticipate heading to Colombia very soon to pick up our daughter. We might even get her right after Mother’s Day this year!
