Day 16 – Goodbyes

MORE PAPERWORK

Our attorney picked us up and took us to sign more papers so Scott could go back to the US today. We didn’t have the translator with us so it was quite humorous. Our Attorney is crazy funny in a good way.  Scott says we should have an entire blog post titled “Adventures with our Attorney”. My Spanish is MUCH better than her English and that is concerning!  We made it through though. Several times she yelled “Mateo!  Where is Mateo?”  That is our translator here. I only had to redo documents and fingerprints 5 times due to writing wrong numbers or something. The attorney does her job well though so we are happy.

GOODBYE PAPI

After lunch we said good-Bye to Daddy as he left for the US. It was sad. We’ve had a pretty good time here. The first week we were scared to go many places and didn’t know where to go. Now we are more knowledgable and comfortable speaking horrible Spanish to people with smiles and lots of “Gracious”. People are very welcoming and helpful. We have more places to explore, but we’ll have to just send Daddy pictures instead of exploring with him.  We know our way around here and have people here taking care of us so we will be fine.  Alli and I were sad to see him leave, but Lanie took his departure extremely hard. In her world, when her caregivers say goodbye they don’t come back. We have explained that we’ll see Daddy again in the US, but it was still difficult. She cried and cried and cried his name  “Papi!  Papi!”  Getting her down for nap took about an hour. She doesn’t want to be left alone at all now. I don’t mind dealing with the tantrums, laying with her while she gets to sleep etc. but it kills me to not be able to give Alli the time and attention she needs. Alli is still doing well, but its very hard and sad for her. We are VERY happy my sister is arriving Monday morning!!!  Alli and I have a week of activity planned out!

STEPHANIE AND THE BOYS

ICBF has been wonderful to work with on the boys situation.  They are transitioning them back to a foster home well.  Many are aggressively looking for them a good home as they are truly great boys.  Stephanie still has them during the transition so my English speaking friend is still here!  Steaphanie’s interactions with the ICBF have all gone very well so she is much more at peace.  It was simply not a good placement and hopefully everyone will win in the end.  Thanks for your prayers.  If anyone wants two great boys, let us know!

ADOPTION PROCESS PROGRESSION

Our representative told us today that our paperwork has FLOWN through the system!  Yipee!  That is partly because our agency and attorney have made sure everything is in order so there were not glitches!  They have been great!   It is projected to be on the judge’s desk today hopefully!  He will have up to 5 days to sign it and then I go to court and wait for a new birth certificate!  After that, I’ll spend about one week in Bogota getting medicals, passports etc. and then home!  I MIGHT be home by July 4th???  Again, God is listening to our prayers!
