Today our hosts had us to thier home for lunch. They have a lovely home with an area on top that overview the mountains. I think I would make that my new office if I lived there! They have a 13 yr. old daughter and a son in college here in Manizales. We had a nice time talking with them. We also got to look at thier scrapbook of the 350 adoptive families that have stayed in their apartments. We hope they will come to the US and visit us sometime! They love to travel!
After lunch, Ivan took us on a drive to a town outside the city where we found sugar cane growing. We hiked up a the mountain where the harvesters had been cutting down the stalk to find some stalks to take home. Once home, our doorman cut the stalk open for us and we sucked the sugar out! Alli LOVES the sugar here!
Our friend, Stephanie says that everything grows very well here… the trees, flowers, fruits and BUGS! The bugs are huge and the people are short in stature! It is a lovely place to visit.
