We decided to go to the Parque del Cafe today. It is an absolutely beautiful amazement park/ coffee and Colombia history tour. We were told it would take 1 1/2 – 2 hours to get there. It took 3 hrs of twisty turns roads. We were all a bit sick by the time we arrived. Our driver, Paoblo, was great. It was a bit comical though watching us try to communicate with him as he knows no English and most of what I know are things like, “Do you need to go tee tee?”, “You are silly” and “Listen to Mommy” – all of which weren’t helpful with Paoblo. He stayed with us the entire day. We used my Spanish English dictionary to communicate, but that can also be comical when expressions were spoken and used incorrectly. We needed some comic relief and we got it all day!
This whole language barrier thing is muy difficul. We ordered what we thought were chicken finger baskets , but we got 5 chicken wings and fries per person. That’s 10 poor little chickens who lost their wings for us and we didn’t even eat a lot of them.
My favorite part was the Colombia traditional dance show with all of the beautiful dresses and dances. Unfortunately they wouldn’t let us take pictures of the dancers. We all loved the show. Alli especially loved the log ride where her mom got drenched. Lanie did fairly well at the Parque.
The day ended with a challenge, but we were glad most of the day went well.
