Day 28 – Another day

I don’t seem to know the date or day of the week here, but I do know how many days I’ve been here!

We went shopping with Vilma for a little bit this morning. She took me to a fabric store here. I was curious what their fabric stores were like.  Of course when I said I wanted to go to a fabric store the meaning got lost in the translation and she took me first to a little Colombian house relica craft store. Hee… Hee… Then I used lots of hand motions and more words and We ended up at a great little fabric store here. Quite fun.

This afternoon we went to the big park here called Bosqular Popular. It’s beautiful and full of open spaces to play games as well as many playground sets everywhere. We ran into our new neighbors with their cute little girl who is 17 mo. and enjoyed some time together. They are both chemical engineers. I wish Scott were here. They have some good chats. The husband speaks some English and I speak a bit of Spanish so it works. They had us over for cake to celebrate getting their new daughter. They are over the moon excited about that little girl. She is well loved and quite cute.

The day ended with another “challenge”. But all is well for the moment. In case you haven’t figured it out yet… “Challenge” is my PC word for a melt down tantrum or something of the like.  I think I’m numbing out to the “challenges” and most of them aren’t as extreme as they were for now so it really wasn’t too bad. I think Lanie left the neighbors sad as they spoke a lot of Spanish and had a baby. She’s so used to being around lots of kids. She had a baby in her foster home as well. I think she’s missing the kids and a mom who can speak more Spanish. When we get to the US there will be lots of kids to play with. She’s picking up the English a little bit. I think she comprehends much more than she speaks.
