Today is Scott and I’s seventeenth wedding Anniversary. I love you Scottie!  Scott and Alli enjoyed a day at the lake in Austin with his family. I have roses in my room so I’ll pretend they are for my anniversary!

Here in Bogota, we have two full uninterrupted days his weekend and then the other days have appointments scattered throughout them. Therefore, I hoped to see as much of Bogota in these two days as possible. Today I asked for a taxi to take us to the Plaza de Bolivar where there are museums and the Bogota visitor center.  Another lady and her daughter already had a a taxi coming going to where we thought was the Plaza de Bolivar. Somewhere in trying to speak and understand Spanish French and English we ended up at Parque de Bolivar which is a huge and beautiful park with sand pits, a small lake with boats and tons of play equipment everywhere. This is where the other lady had planned to go. So the plans changed. We had a nice day at the park Instead. Scott and Alli would have loved it. We especially enjoyed the sand pits.

Hotel of Paris is great in many ways,  The food is good. The room is adequate. The staff is nice and 2 of them speak English. There are play areas and some adult multi language conversations. I wish i could speak more fluently with all of them. Id love to learn more about the different countries and cultures represented here. However, It’s hard being here. The family across the hall stays up late laughing and talking very loud with their kids. There are loads of other noises as well. It’s very difficult for Lanie to go to sleep. i am very glad we had our apartment in Manizales.  Its also difficult to direct Lanie here with so much going on. And the wifi is terrible here. Wifi is how I’m surviving with Skype, whatspp text, email, internet, ebooks and an occassional netflix movie all while Im stuck in my bed having to be quiet in the dark (which is every night and morning). So now I’m just stuck in a dark room without anything I can do. I have to go to the center of the house to use wifi.  Seven more days and we’ll be home. We are booking our flights home tonight.

The veins in my forehead are permanently pertruding from so much concentration trying to communicate. When I get home I just want to be in a room with a lot of English speaking people!  I want to ask for cookies and cream ice cream and not get cherry ice cream!  I want to interact with Lanie and others and not wonder what they are saying to my daughter and what she is saying back. Its hard to be mom when other adults are giving your daughter things and offering for her to do things and you don’t fully understand what they are saying. In all of that one of the moms said I spoke good Spanish. Ha!  I went to the park instead of the museum today and then got lost trying to find our driver. We then called our driver, but couldn’t get him to figure out where we were so we had to call someone who spoke English to translate!  Part of that is because you can’t hear well on the cell phones which makes broken Spanish extremely hard to understand.

Seven more days. Severn more days.
