Day 40 – surviving

Being here with some of the other adoption kids in this house continues to be very hard. I’m disciplining other kids in order to maintain control of Lanie. These kids are used to being independent and parenting each other and they don’t make good parents for each other. However, I have seen a great improvement in Lanie from a few weeks ago. She is still coming to me and listening to me most of the time even with the other kids around telling her what to do.  I’m falling in love with her!  She has been a true delight.(Most of the time).  I just love squeezing her tight and giving mucho besos (kisses).

When we get home, we’ll be limiting how many people she’s around for a while so that she learns we are her family. She is use to many kids and several mother figures in your life so the concept of one mom, dad and a sister who are your core family is taking some learning. this is very important so that she will listen to our guidance as well as enjoy fun times with us. She loves people and kids and will attach to anyone who looks nice. However, as I noted she is learning to come to me as mom as evidence from yesterday and today. That is VERY good.

Today we walked the street around here and went to an open flea market and shopping area With another family.  It was ok. I’m looking forward to tomorrow spending the day at appointments and seeing the center of the city with just Lanie and I and Mauricio our driver. I’m intentionally staying away from the hotel all day. However, there are many wonderful people here whom I’m enjoying getting to know,

Six more days! (It’s really just 5 because we travel home the 6th). Oh how I miss Scott and Alli and everyone. I wasn’t suppose to still be here away from them, but I am so ill continue too try and make the best of it. We’re grateful for the many people who have helped us so much with everything back home. You all are AWSOME!
