Salt Cathedral
Today we visited the Salt Cathedral Outside of town. Wow! It’s amazing. This area mines most of the salt in the world. The Cathedral is a path of mines that were mined. In each mined area a different artist created a cross to depict a different portion of the story of Christ. It’s truly amazing. The pictures don’t do it justice. Mauricio again was a huge help today. Thankfully, he will be with us all week. The Hotel has fewer kids in it now which is also helpful. We will hang here in the morning.
Adoption Progress
After the Salt Cathedral we picked up Lanie’s passport and went to the US Embassy doctor to get her exam and medical clearance to enter the US. All went well except she had to get three vaccines. Yikes! Of course she cried, but she really did very well considering they poked three needles in her arms. I think Mauricio was the saddest about her having to get three vaccines. She chippered up quickly. I was fine. Mauricio just couldn’t stand that she had to get three shots. Tomorrow we visit the US Embassy and apply for her visa. I also have been asked to speak with the head of the embassy to discuss our very upsetting story of working with our previous attorney in hopes that it will help stop her from continueing to hurt other adoptions. The more I learn about everything that happened behind the scenes with this lady, the more I am grateful to our agency for fighting for Lanie and us. It’s a miracle we were able to go forward.
