Week One at Home

We have had a great first week home.  Lanie and Alli have become good friends.  I was concerned for their bonding since Alli’s last impression of Lanie was two weeks in country screaming, kicking, pinching and stealing all of my time from her non stop.  But, God has been good to create lots of fun moments this week with bath times, tickle wars, playing dolls and more.  Alli is mature for her age in general, but I just watched her grow up even more in the past two months.  She cares for Lanie so well.  What a blessing she is to us.

Of course Lanie loves her Daddy and the many fun times playing outside with him.  We’ve had water gun wars, soccer games (the girl can kick a ball) and much more.  Today Daddy’s taking the girls out to breakfast and to the park for a while so that I can attempt to finish unpacking and get some order to this place!  My house is out of control!

The best news of the week is that Lanie is sleeping in her own bed all night and not waking up until 9am each morning.  I’m sure you have all heard the screams of joy from this mom that could be heard around the world!  Life is good!

So – We love Lanie.  She brings lots of smiles, energy and life to our family.  I’m sure there will be many highs and lows ahead, but we are grateful for it all.

I’m still reflecting on so much that I’ve learned from the past two months.  I’ll share it all sometime this week.  It’s been a wonderful journey.  They say that one forgets the pain of childbirth because of the joy of having the child.  (I’m not sure I agree though – I remember Alli’s birth VERY well).  Well… there were plenty of lonely moments and challenges in Colombia, but the difficulties are fading in comparison to the wonderful memories I have of being there.
