Day 3A – On Standby AGAIN

Well… our entire process has been “not typical” so it should come as no suprise that our projected meeting day is “not typical.”  That is the phrase our attorney and representative keep telling us.  At first, we were to get Lanie yesterday, Thursday.  Today we went to the ICBF office to meet with the staff and then meet Lanie.  We met with the staff who were very nice (and VERY muchly wanted us to speak lots of Spanish!!).  However, we do not have Lanie.  She was on her way with her social worker from an outside city and there was a mudslide.    She was waiting a while on the road for it to clear up, but she was in a taxi with others who all wanted to turn around so they did.  Someone else may bring her tonight to our apartment.  Or it could be tomorrow morning… or it could be Tuesday since Monday is a holiday here.  🙁  The ICBF staff and our attorney have been great to go out of their way to try and get her to us.  While we are sad to not have her, we know that ultimately God is in charge so we will trust Him on this.  Perhaps all of the MANY MANY delays thus far have prepared us to accept whatever happens.  So again we are on “standby” awaiting a hopeful call or email.  While we wait, we are doing some intense Spanish lessons.  Scott did fairly well with the ICBF lady in Spanish.  I managed…kinda… sorta… well it was hard!  I do much better when they speak slower!  Alli just had a look of confusion on her face when the lady tried to talk to her.  Hmmmm…. we have much to learn…
