It was just another day around here. The normal stuff and an outing to the big Bosque Popular. Overall, Lanie is continuing to do much better. We are working hard to create fun moments together. She is slow to warm up to things. If you ask her to do something new, you are guaranteed to hear the word “No!” We are trying to do many of the same things each day and introducing new things slowly. That coupled with a lot of hugs, kisses, tickles, and fun is helping her to connect and be more agreeable shall we say. She is now looking forward to our learning games and is slowly learning her colors, numbers and other thIngs. Today I showed her her name in print and had her trace it. At first, she did not want to do it, but when she did she was so excited! We are slowly making break throughs. Today she was playing in a huge play gym type of thing and I told her it was time to go. She came down immediately and put on her shoes. We went for ice cream to celebrate her obedience! When I was sad today missing home and family, she came and gave me big hugs and kisses and said, “Papi and Alli. Triste (sad)”. Of course we progressed a few steps forward, but we also ended the day with a challenge unfortunately. I’m sure it will continue to be steps forward and backwards for a while.
I think this might be our last Sunday in Manizales! Sundays here are probably some of the better days. The people here are all outside playing. There are loads of activities here for kids on Sundays and of course the weather is beautiful at about 70-75 degrees.
