Our hosts, Ivan and Vilma had us over for lunch again today. it was a nice time as always. I did try a new beverage called aquadentia? That is some strong stuff… Evedentially it is very popular here in Colombia. “Wow!” were my exact words after drinking some of it!
The hosts asked me to bring our adoption book we made for Lanie that shows our house, family, friends and some of the things we like to do as a family. They loved it! Vilma kept saying, “I just love your life. You are like the Walton’s or the Ingles family. ” I started cracking up laughing. She was noting all of the family and friends we have and the many pictures with us enjoying life with them. She .ies the community living aspect of our life. While we are incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so many incredible family and friends to enjoy life with and we have so much to be thankful for, I did try to tell her our life is FAR from perfect and always blissful! She noted that while Manizales is beautiful, she loves the community aspect of our life. Hmm… We complain so often that Dallas is ugly (and well a lot of it kind of is), but its the people that make or break a place in the end! I also marveled at how I could make a book for our new daughter that showed so many smiling faces in pictures and loads of wonderful people. It does look like the perfect little family… Ha! It’s like facebook. You only post what you want people to see and know about you which often gives a false picture of the truth. Selective editing of life! As many of you know, we are far from the perfect little family. We have had good times and bad, we’ve loved each other well at times and not so well other times. We’ve made good choices and bad. We are far from perfect, but God has been gracious to bless us in many ways. We sure can look good on paper though! Maybe we should create a new family book and title it “Under construction”. It would be a bit more true to life.
Bogota on Friday
I booked our flights to Bogota for this Friday morning! We are heading out of here! I start packing us up tomorrow! While I’m overjoyed at this, today I was downtown thinking how I would not be going back there before I left. I’ve come to know this place and its people pretty well. There are lots of great aspects to this place I’ll miss.
