I can’t believe this day has arrived! We leave for the airport in a few hours! We’re going home… To family, friends, English speaking people, my own bed and so much more! While I’m very happy to be going home, we are leaving here some incredible people and new friends. We’ve made more friends here in Bogota that have been wonderful. Each time I was about at the end of my rope wondering how I would survive longer, God sent someone or something my way to keep me going. This week it was some great adoptive families here at the hotel and of course Mauricio. I sit here now looking back and know that God has all of the timing, people, and circumstances orchestrated for His purposes. It’s hard to see that in the middle of it all. So again we say good bye to friends and hello to others.
We visited the Gold Museum today, Plaza de Bolivar and enjoyed some Mexican food and Margaritas today. The food was good this time! This evening my incredible representative here in Colombia, Martha, took us out to Waffles and Crepes. It was delicious. I love Martha. She does her job well and she cares About the kids and families. She called me “KooKoo” though. I write her emails many mornings about things that happen or things I need. They can be humorous. Evidentially her whole family is laughing at me. that’s AWESOME! She said Lanie and I fit in well together since Lanie is a bit silly. Hmmmm….
I did learn a little interesting fact… The original judge that had our case had a brain anorism the day they anticipated her signing our papers which was also the day my sister and Alli left door for the US. This delayed the paperwork about a week, but she said it could have delayed it a month or more while they assigned our case to a new judge. It was still completed within the timeframe given to the judge so they didn’t tell me until now. The judge is recovering from the anorism.
So we’re saying good bye to Colombia. We hope to visit again someday and stay in touch with many wonderful people. I’ll blog tomorrow again and will post my thoughts on what we can learn from these wonderful Colombians. I once was fearful of coming here, but now I’ve come to love a lot of things about this place.
When I see you next expect to be greeted with mucho Brazos y Besos (Hugs and kisses). That’s the way these Colombians do it and I’m kind of use to it! I like it!
Good bye beautiful weather and mountains and hello flat land and 105 degrees weather! Here we come!
